Vadodara is a city in Gujarat and it was earlier called as Baroda. It is one of the largest cities in the Gujarat state and it is a cosmopolitan city. The city has a population of more than 1.8 million people and it is commonly known for – Lakshmi Villas Palace, which is the home for Baroda state’s Maratha who belongs to the royal family of Gaekwads. The city is also the resident of the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, which is the largest University of Gujarat. Vadodara is a famous city and it has many industries and institutes and people from other parts of the country also come and study in Vadodara.
Vadodara was earlier a Hindu dominant city in the early 812 AD. The province was divided by Hindu rulers until 1297. The first empire to rule this province was the Gupta Empire in the early CE. Later the Chalukya Dynasty took over the region and during this time the Muslim rule was spreading across India and all the reins and the powers were taken by the Delhi Sultans. The city then was ruled by the sultans for many years.
