My City New Delhi is a City in India and is also the capital of India. It is one of the 11 districts in Delhi and it is also the National Capital Territory of India. The National Capital Region of the City is surrounded by Haryana on the three sides and Uttar Pradesh on East. New Delhi is a developed city. The city was founded by George V, the emperor of India during the Delhi Durbar of 1911. New Delhi is also one of the developed cities and comes under the smart cities flagship of India.
History
New Delhi or Delhi was the political and financial center of India for many years during the British rule. The capital during that period was Calcutta, now Kolkata. Delhi was then ruled by the Mughal Empire from 1649 to 1857. In 1900’s the British administration decided to make Delhi as the capital of the country because it was in the center and also working from the center and controlling the country would be easier rather than being in the East. In 1911, George V and Queen Mary made the announcement and called Delhi as the new capital of the country. Since then Delhi has been the capital of India.
Culture
My city New Delhi is a cosmopolitan city and follows various cultures and ethnicities. The city is a political hub and all the politicians have a house in Delhi. The city lightens up during the Republic Day as a huge parade is organized where people from the entire country participate and showcase the different cultures and the diversity. It is an exhibition where the naval force, army, and air force also showcase their power to the country and the President and the Prime Minister of the country salute them. It is beautiful to watch it and gives you Goosebumps. The people who participate in this practices it for months and it is all done with perfection. The people of Delhi follows every culture with enthusiasm.
Historic Sites
My City New Delhi has several historic and beautiful sites. The National Museum, The Rashtrapati Bhavan, India Gate which got its inspiration from Arc de Triomphe, Paris, Gandhi Smriti, Rajghat, Jantar Mantar, the Indira Gandhi memorial museum, Art Gallary, Rail Museum and many other museums, National War Memorial, Lotus Temple, Qutub Minar, Lodi Gardens and many other sites. Whoever visits my city must see these places as they are very beautiful and well maintained.
Transport
Travelling in my city is not a difficult at all. There are many metros that have made commuting easy. But if you travel by road then it gets difficult as it is crowded. The city has a beautiful airport, and a beautiful railway station as well. The city also has many National Highways, which is connected to various places.
Language
The people living in Delhi speaks the National Language that is – Hindi. Though some people also speak Punjabi, and Haryanvi as well. People of Delhi also communicate in English, but Hindi dominates majorly
