My City Jaipur is the largest city in Rajasthan and it is also the capital of the state. The city is also known as the Pink City and it is a metropolis city. The ruler of Amer – Jai Singh II founded it on 18th November 1727. The city is also named after him. Jaipur is also a very famous tourist destination. The city has many neighboring cities like Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur and Mount Abu, which are major tourist destinations.

History

My city Jaipur was founded in the year 1727. The city has many historic memories and it is amongst the most beautiful cities in India. The city was constructed according to the Vastu Shashtra and also Shilpa Shastra. It has a very rich legacy and people of Jaipur still follow the legacy. The palaces and the Ranis and the Maharajas of Jaipur have left their legacies. The city was painted pink to welcome the Prince of Wales under the rule of Swami Ram Singh and since then the city was also known as the Pink City.

Architecture

The Pink City – Jaipur is built according to the Vastu Shastra, which was given by Vidyadhar Bhattacharya. There are three gates in the city facing East, West, and North. The eastern gate is known as Suraj Pol, the western as Chand Pol and the Northern gates are facing the capital of Amer. The city has a lot of palaces and rich heritage. The Hawa Mahal is very famous across the country. There is also the Nahargarh Fort, which also the residential place of the King Sawai Jai Singh II.

The people of Jaipur celebrates all the festivals and the Hindu religion is the one that dominates the most. The main cuisine of Jaipur is Daal, baati, and churma. It is also the cuisine that Jodha prepared for her husband Akbar. The other dishes include Bajre ki roti, Missi Roti, gate ki sabzi, Ker sangria, make keg hat and bajre ki ghat. Jaipur is also famous for the sweets such as Ghever, moong thal, meethi thuli, feeni and mawa kachori. The culture of Jaipur is a typical Rajasthani culture and it is showcased in the entire city. There are many places in Jaipur that have the handmade artisan and sculptures. The main crafts of the place include Stone carving, tarkashi, zari, block painting, bandhani and many other things. The city is also famous for its gemstones and people across the world prefer buying stones from this city. The people of Jaipur speak Rajasthani, Hindi, Marwari, Dhundari, and English. Marwari is the most commonly spoken language of the city and even of the state. Jaipur has a famous literature festival that is famous across the world and poets, writers and people who love literature participate in this festival. The other festivals include Gangaur, Teej, Kite Festival and Elephant festival.
