Delhi Public School Asansol was established in the year 2013 by the Symphony Foundation in collaboration with DPS Educational Society. Symphony Foundation was set up in the year 2010 with the aim of imparting high quality education to children and DPS Asansol is a big step in that direction. An important aspect of the school is that it has admitted physically and mentally challenged children along with students from poorer sections of the society.
The school is affiliated to the CBSE board.
Registration form and prospectus can be downloaded from the school website. The completed registration form needs to be submitted at the school office along with the registration fee and the following documents.
- Attested photocopy of the birth certificate of the child
- Attested photocopy of the report card of the previous class
- Original medical fitness certificate of the student
- Address proof such as Telephone bill/ Electricity bill/Driving license
- 3 coloured passport size photographs of the child
- 2 photographs of the parents with the child
An admission test is conducted by the school. The students who are successful in the test are called for an interview along with their parents. Admission is granted to students who are selected on the basis of their performance in the interview. A student can be allotted a lower or higher class depending upon his/her performance and other factors. The admission process is completed only after all the formalities are completed and the required documents are submitted by the parents.
Transfer certificate from the previous school is required to be submitted with the school within 15 days of the new academic session. Transfer certificates of outstation students must be countersigned by the District Educational Officer.
Facilities available in the school
Apart from classrooms, DPS Asansol also features multimedia rooms equipped with LCD projectors and other advanced audio visual aids to enable the teachers to use Power point presentations, animations and graphics to explain various topics to the students. The school library has a large collection of books on a plethora of topics. The students are issued library cards to enable them to get books issued from the library. Books can be taken home for one week at a time. Reference books are not issued and can be studied only in the library.
The school offers adequate facilities and coaching services for cricket, football and table tennis. The curriculum also includes a number of extracurricular activities such as music, dance, dramatics, art and craft and other activities.
The school clinic is manned by a qualified nurse. Regular medical examinations of the students are also conducted by a qualified doctor.
