Jim Corbett National Park is the first ever tiger reserve of India which comes under Project Tiger. It is situated in the foothills of Himalayan range with beautiful but wild forests and photogenic scenic beauty. It is locate alongside the banks of river Ramganga in Uttarakhand. Jim Corbett is not only a preservation house for tigers but several species of reptiles, mammals, and other birds. Jim Corbett is a throbbing getaway for nature enthusiasts, adventurers, and photographers for it have a plethora of flora and fauna to offer to its visitors. It is divided into five safari zones ranging from the erroneous hills to plains.
History of Jim Corbett
Jim Corbett is the oldest national park in India. It has witnessed the Tehri Garhwal princely state to British Empire and stands with utmost pride until this day. It was first started in 1860’s by the British who evicted the Bokas tribe and decided to preserve the natural habitat from cattle grazers and farmers. This later transformed into a Reserved Forest in 1879. During early 1900’s the thought of converting it into a national park was put forward by Sir Jim Corbett who himself set the boundaries of the national park. Hence, it was named after Sir Jim Corbett. It was Asia’s first national park which covered 323.75 sq kilometers of area. After India attained independence it was named as Ramganga national park which was again changed into Jim Corbett National Park. As soon as the number of Tigers declined in the early 20th century, theatre region of Kalagarh forest was included within the Jim Corbett premises as well.

It has an area of 1,318.54 sq kilometer which comprises of 520 sq kilometers of the core area and 797.72 sq kilometers of buffer area.
