The Pfizer Story
Way back in 1849, in a cozy Brooklyn house, two cousins had an idea. Charles Pfizer and Charles Erhart started something special, well, it was Pfizer Inc. In no time, thanks to the Civil War, they were booming. By 1868 their earnings had doubled. Feeling the need for more space, they shifted to Manhattan, settling at 81 Maiden Lane. And yeah, by 1882, they’d hopped over to Chicago. It was kinda their first adventure outside of New York! In 1900, they made it official, becoming a “real” company in New Jersey. And it was actually in 1919 when two clever Pfizer employees, James Currie and Jasper Kane, made a game-changing discovery. They turned sugar into citric acid. Simple sugar! And just like that, Pfizer became the fermentation expert. Roll on to 1936, and they were the vitamin C kings! By the 1940s, if you thought vitamins, you thought Pfizer. Then came World War II, and it was a rough time for all. But Pfizer stepped up. The U.S. Government needed penicillin for soldiers. And Pfizer? They had the unique tech to produce it big time. Risky? Very. But they did it. And that’s how Pfizer sealed its legendary status in medicine.
Pfizer Net Worth
A while back, Pfizer made quite a few changes, not just any changes though. We are talking about the big ones, like splitting a part of their company, collaborating with Mylan, and all that stuff. Apart from that, Pfizer also collaborated with a part of Glaxo to create something new and that seems to kinda work for them. And yeah, from the $100.3 they made last year, in 2022, they kept around $31.37 billion of that as profit. Fast forward to November 2023, and Pfizer is a giant in the medicine world already! With all that they did over the years, their total worth as of now is a mind-boggling $176.49 billion.
