My city Pimpri-Chinchwad is a part of Maharastra. It connects to Pune Metropolitan city via the old Pune-Mumbai Highway. It is formed from three localities of Nigdi, Akurdi, Kalewadi, Bhosari, Pimpri, and Chinchwad. It is a beautiful city with a pleasant climate throughout the year. Three major rivers Mula, Indrayani, and Pavana flow around this area makes this city green forever. The city is located at 530km above the sea level. The name Chinchwad in my city is derived from the large tamarind (Chinch) tree. The tree is well known for Saint Morya Gosavi shrine, which is a Divine in Maharashtra. Every year, this temple will submerge in the river due to the flooding of river Pavana.
My city is also known as a historic place of Bhosari. It was known as Bhojakata during the Mahabharata period. Few centuries ago, my city was the capital of renowned Hindu King Bhoj. During the medieval period, Pimpri-Chinchwad became the ideal choice for industrial development. During the 1960s, MIDC had started its industrial work by purchasing land and building roads. After that, my city has seen a tremendous growth in all fields includes, mechanical, Pharmaceutical, automobile and much more. It has major celebrations much like the rest of North India. Buddha Purnima, Dasara, Dr. B.R Ambedkar’s Birth Anniversary are just a few of the festivals of the Hindu Community.
